Where have I been?
Well, as you know, life intervenes, and for the past 3 years R•T•G has had huge health challenges and my focus has actually been on him. (Not music, alas; and also not housekeeping or weeding or anything else.) Family comes first, after all. Happily, the various urgent health issues have lost their urgency over the past few months—healing happens!—and I’m paying better attention to my music again.
Including the long-anticipated (by me at least) Meditations of My Heart future recording.
A solo I’ve been composing for inclusion in the new collection, Lullaby for the Least of These, was having its own composing-block while I was having my family-takes-priority interlude. The middle section I first created for the piece was, to put it bluntly, both boring and nonsensical. I spent some time wondering where my creativity went, while every attempt to make beautiful contrasting music failed.
Lullaby for the Least of These has been notated—always a good sign!
Now that I’m thinking more, and more clearly, about music, it turns out that I’m perfectly able to create the middle section that Lullaby deserves, and it makes sense with all the other music, and it’s beautiful in its own right, and I’m very happy with all of the music now. Which I wasn’t before. I’ll probably write in more detail about this soon. Today I just want to say:
I can’t wait for you to hear ALL of this new music!!! I love it and I think you will too!
Kathleen
PS: Also paying a bit more attention to housekeeping, weeding, et al; but music comes second-first!
