Who is Kathleen Ryan?

Her first favorite sound (age 4) was marbles rolling in an aluminum dishpan.

Her life goal, from age 5, was to play Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

At age 12, she played snare drum in a marching band.

At 13, she performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

At 14, she sang & danced in a hippie liturgical drama at the Ohio State Fair.

At 15, having already achieved her life goal, she quit piano lessons & started writing songs.

At 17, she composed a folk rock opera on the Tristan & Isolde legend. (She didn’t know about Wagner, but that would not have stopped her.)

At 18, she wanted to be “Joan Baez at a piano.”

At 19, with 100 songs in her catalog, she returned to classical music.

Then: music/dance improv; singing telegrams; music directing for theater; acting; poetry.

And: decades of meditation & spiritual practice.

Now, it all comes together:

Mischievous pianist unites
classical, folk, blues, & showtunes
with transcendent spirituality.
